	The Great Movie Ride Its almost as good as being there! Enjoy the highlights of The Great Movie Ride off of Hollywood Blvd, Disneys Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World.

Ride Length: about 22 minutes This ride, set in Mann's Chinese Theater, travels through the greatest movies ever made. Scenes from "The Wizard of Oz", "Mary Poppins", and "Aliens" are brought to life with Audio-Animatronic characters. The ride concludes with clips from many classic movies. Great fun for movie-buffs! Tip: Toward the end of the ride, a scene takes place involving The Alien, which might scare small children.

Great Movie Ride: From the Drivers Seat

I am a nineteen-year-old college program cast member working at the Great Movie Ride as tour guide. This is an amazing ride and is not to be missed. This ride is actually the reason the entire Disney-MGM Studios was built! Heres some advice about enjoying this attraction:

-Yes, it is a ride. It is not a theater show, nor is it a Chinese restaurant. You have no idea how many people come up and ask me where they can make priority seating reservations, or when the next showtime is. The Great Movie Ride is a real ride. We do not lie.

-To go along with the above tip: During your wait, you will enter a room playing movie trailers. THIS IS JUST A PRESHOW, NOT THE FULL ATTRACTION! I counted one day how many people asked me if that was the full attraction or ducked under poles to leave because they thought the preshow was it. Twenty-eight people in one hour. Twenty-eight. The Great Movie Ride is a ride, otherwise it would be called the Great Movie Stand-Up-And-Stare-At-A-Screen.

-Dont duck under or sit on the poles or ropes. Theyre not sturdy. They break. And people tend to faceplant if they go under them. So do not try it. If you do need to leave the queue, alert the cast member. Were trained to handle the ropes.

-Flash photography and external lighting is a very big no!!! There are three reasons for this: #3: Its annoying to the other guests when theyre going through darkness and a flash goes off.  #2: It messes up the animatronics programming. And the #1 reason: Your tour guide is controlling the speeds of the vehicle while spieling. Its hard enough to talk to seventy people while driving, but when people are taking flash pictures or shining a camera light in your eyes it makes it even harder. It also makes it very, very dangerous for the bandits and gangsters when theyre on top of the stage in Indiana Jones. Its very high up and theres no safety railing. If you shine lights in their eyes while theyre on stage, you could cause them to fall.

The Great Movie Ride is one of the best Disney dark rides and has some of the best animatronics in the parks. Its also a for families because because theres no height requirement, and we can fit families of six to eight in one row. I highly recommend it.
