For folks wanting a relaxed feeling of the “Bygone South”, Port Orleans Riverside Resort offers hospitality with the sound of crickets and frogs singing in the background. The second largest moderate resort, Port Orleans Riverside is themed in two distinct southern flavors: Magnolia Bend offers mansion type buildings with elegant furnishings and Alligator Bayou recreates the backwoods sense of rural living in two story buildings surrounded by nature and furnished in rustic pieces. In addition to the beautifully landscaped grounds and impeccable theming, the Port Orleans Riverside Resort offers:

  1. The Sassagoula River boat ride to Downtown Disney… one of the more romantic experiences at the World, imho
  2. A delightful 10 minute stroll to the Port Orleans resort along the Sassagoula River where pool sharing as well as restaurant sharing is welcomed
  3. A themed “swimmin hole” with a slide and hot tub as well as five quiet pools around the resort
  4. Boatwright’s full service restaurant offering breakfast and dinner, southern style and the Cotton Co-op food court that gets high reviews from many

Recreation opportunities include boat and surrey bike rental as well as fishing excursions on the Sassagoula River and a “catch and release” activity for children on Ole Man Island.

Port Orleans Riverside Resort rooms are the standard 314sq ft for moderate resorts, and most rooms sleep four. Some of the Alligator Bayou rooms have the capacity to sleep five if the fifth person is small. Port Orleans Riverside offers pizza delivery to rooms. Transportation to all parks is via bus, and there are several stops throughout the Port Orleans Riverside Resort. For people who enjoy Downtown Disney, this is prime location.

PORT ORLEANS on 7/12/2010 by Carol Davis

We just returned from our trip to WDW and our first stay at the Port Orleans Riverside with our family and we had an awesome stay at this resort.  I was very impressed with everything about Port Orleans and everyone was so friendly, helpful and there when you needed them.  Our room was cleaned everyday and always something "special" to look for in our room by the room's maid service.  I would recommend this resort to families as well as couples.  There is something for everyone! We took our grandchildren on an evening horse/carriage ride that went from our resort to the Port Orleans French Quarter next door and they loved it!  The pools were fun and it was just a great 8 days in the Resort.  The food was excellent as well.

Port Orleans Riverside at WDW on 12/12/2009 by Franniepoppins

Port Orleans Riverside is one of my favorite resorts on Walt Disney World property.  I would give it a 5 rating, but they discontinued the morning breakfast at Boatwright's.  This resort has it all, in my opinion.  Staying in a standard room, in the Mansions, requesting a room on Magnolai Bend, near the bridge, will put you near a quiet pool, a bus stop, and the bridge to the main pool and food court.  I prefer the mansions, but Alligator Bayou, requesting building 18, will put you within two minutes walk to the food court, and also near a quiet pool and a bus stop.

Transportation is really a breeze.  There are several bus stops located around the perimeter of the resort.  You have the option of a boat ride to Downtown Disney, along the Sassagoula River.  A short walk will bring you to the sister resort Port Orleans French Quarter.  Have an early dining at another WDW resort?  Call bell services, for help requesting a cab.

Port Orleans Riverside has a sit down restaurant, Boatwright's, and their wondertul food court, Colonel's Cotton Mill.  The offerings at the food court are plentiful, and there is ample seating.  You can also find lots of grocery offerings at the little store off of the lobby, Fulton's.

Check in has always been a breeze at Riverside, and the service throughout the resort is the best.  You can't go wrong with a stay at this Walt Disney World Resort!

Port Orleans on 1/11/2007 by Mary Ann

My husband and I have stayed at the Port Orleans several times. The first time we stayed was about 8 yeras ago. When we arrived it was about 11PM and as we were checking in we "wondered" what all the noise was. Of course we had to take a look and see and we were surprised to find a wonderful sing a long show going on in the lounge. Because of te late hour we went to the room and went to bed. The next day we hit the park and after seeing all that we wanted, we went back to the hotel. We strolled around the grounds, past the fishing hole, pools, etc and wound up at the lounge where people were taking seats. We decided to stick around and have a drink. We were then AMAZEd by a 45 to one hour set of fun loving, sing a long, dancing, jumpin music by Bob Jackson - one of Disney's hidden wonders. Ever since that first time at the Port Orleans, we make it a point of spending at least one night in the family friendly lounge, enjoying this amazing man. This is FREE fun for the WHOLE family. Go have a mixed drink or a soda, grab an appetizer and be prepared to have a wonderful time! And the Bar Staff are great too!

Wasn't What I Expected on 10/17/2006 by Dee

We stayed a the Riverside from 9/16-9/23/06 - I had requested a Manor room and didn't get it... we stay in Alligator Bayuo building 15.  The room was nice, but I would have like the Manor better with two teenage daughters.  The view... we got the view of the parking lot.  Walk to transportation wasn't that bad.  Would I stay there again, probably not.  The theme wasn't exactly what I expected.

Thanks.

Port Orleans Riverside on 1/14/2006 by tricia and jon

we stayed at port orleans riverside the last four times that we have gone to disney and our family loves it there.  The souvenier shops, the restaurants, the rooms, the boat that takes you directly to downtown disney, and the staff were wonderful.  If you want to go to a great hotel while on vacation, this is definitely one that should be considered.  It has "the appeal of rural louisiana" says the disney world web site, and we couldnt agree more.  Its great!

Port Orleans Riverside on 4/16/2005 by Jodi

We stayed here in Sept of 2004 and ABSOLUTELY loved it! The rooms were very nice and the service was excellent! Even with hurricane Jeannes arrival, the cast members were so kind and helpful. They had games and crafts for the kids on the day of Jeanne and made even a hurricane become a special memory! Boatwrights has very good breakfasts for reasonable prices, too! The pool is awesome, though we found it hard to catch the lifeguards on duty so that the waterslide would be open. My kids loved it! They cant wait to go back there!

Port Orleans-Riverside on 10/18/2003 by Rachel B.

We have stayed at PO-Riverside on our last two trips to WDW. In both June 2001 and June 2002, we were in AB section, Blg. 15 facing the parking lot. The location was an equally easy walk to the main blg./food court and the bus stop. We love the landscaping and enjoyed strolling the grounds. We feel that the food court offers good food. We enjoyed taking a boat ride to Downtown Disney and to PO-French Quarters. My son and I rented a Surrey Bike and rode around the resort. This was a very memorable experience. My son, 11 at the time, says he wants to always stay at Riverside when we go WDW. I would love to try most Disney resorts, but will probably stay at Riverside. A beautiful resort for less than a deluxe.

Our stay at POR on 7/30/2003 by Scott Junken

I feel it is a 6 key resort with a 5 key price. The landscaping is one of the best Disney has to offer. We stayed there Nov.30 to Dec. 3 2002 in AB, bld. 14 and loved it. It is close to the main bld. and the food court. I would recommend it to anyone..

Great Value Great Hotel on 7/16/2003 by John

Were from Virginia and wanted a deep South experience. Port Orleans-Riverside provided it and did it well. The restaurant food and staff are superb and the food court is ideal for anytime snacks or change of menu. The grounds are relaxing to walk around and youre not more than 12 min. by bus from any park. With a cost factor almost two thirds less than a mono-rail resort this hotel is a gem.

My family and I haved stayed at PO Riverside for the last 5 trips and really love the quiet, peaceful atmosphere. There is so much to do here and it is located in the center of WDW so it doesnt take long to get anywhere. Also the food court and Restaurant are exceptional. I recommend PO Riverside to all my friends that are planning trips to WDW.

I love Walt Disney World and I love Port Orleans Resort Riverside. They have everything from 6 different pools to a great food coart. I love the arcade, the best one in my eyes. love it on 7/19/2002 by Susan:)

I have stayed here quite a few times, more than any other resort, and it is my favorite. The first time I was here was December 2000, and it is so beautiful all decorated for Christmas with the giant tree in the lobby. We stayed in the Alligator Bayou section, and I did not like the outside of the buildings-too plain, but the inside was neat with a log bed and a pretty quilt and old fashioned sinks, and I loved the Song of the South shower curtain! The landscaping is wonderful, and the main pool is great-- the slide is the best. The other times I have been here, I stayed in the mansions which are a lot prettier on the outside. The Oak Manor building is beautiful and so is Acadia House. The inside of the rooms are lovely with the magnolia bedspreads- look for hidden mickeys in the vine pattern! And I love taking the boat to Downtown Disney, it is so much nicer than the bus! The food court is pretty much like all the food courts in terms of what they have. I would say that PO Riverside is definitely the prettiest of all the moderate resorts!

Love Port Orleans Riverside on 4/1/2001 by Brandi

We have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (formerly Dixie Landings) for the past 10 years and we absolutely love it!! Would highly recommend it. The food court is great, the water taxi to the Marketplace is so peaceful, and so convenient. We like the Mansions the best (especially Oak Manor). Grounds are beautiful!

DIXIE LANDINGS on 1/8/2001 by DOUG ROOD

WE'VE STAYED THERE FOUR TIMES. 3 WITH KIDS AND 1 WITHOUT. ALWAYS ENJOYABLE. LANDSCAPING IS OUTSTANDING. GOOD STORE ON SITE. CONVENIENT BUSES. GREAT THEMED POOL AND PLAYGROUND. I HEAR IT IS MERGING WITH PORT ORLEANS. EASY ACCESS TO DOWNTOWN DISNEY. PROBABLY WILL STAY THERE AGAIN. VISITED THE FOOD COURT AT ALL STAR MOVIES. MY OPINION THAT ALL STAR FOOD COURT WAS BETTER. DIXIE IS PROBABLY THE MOST POPULAR OF THE MODERATES. STAYED AT CORONADO SPRINGS A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND ENJOYED IT TOO, BUT DIXIE IS #1.
