I've been hearing about a new payment option for Disneyland Annual Passport holders via the Inter-HairBear-Net. If my information sources are correct, beginning in January 2009, Annual Passholders will be able to choose a monthly payment plan when they renew their passes. This will also be available to new AP holders. When you renew, or purchase new APs, you will be charged an initial payment and then an affordable monthly charge will be charged to the credit card you designated when you renewed or purchased new APs. Of course, this will make it a whole lot more appealing and financially affordable. This will be so great for folks that can ot pay the full AP charges all at one time, especially for families that want to purchase APs for everyone in their family .... it can be extremely expensive to purchase multiple APs, so this new monthly payment deal will really be quite a lovely and fabulous option. I'm happy HoHo for everyone that will be able to enjoy the parks via APs that they were not able to before. However, this could, and very likely, bring larger crowds to the parks, creating longer lines at attractions, longer wait times for the restaurants, heavily congested shops, etc. I'm sure the uppity-ups at Disney that came up with this plan did it to bring lots more guests to the parks, and more money will be generated. I have mixed feelings about the monthly payment thing .... it's super magical for everyone choosing this option (and I am included myself) but at the same time it could possibly be responsible for undesirable guest experiences due to the over-crowding. Not only will it affect attraction lines, longer restaurant wait times, larger crowds in the stores, etc. it will also mean Fantasmic!, parades, and evening fireworks events will be more crowded than they already are. As it is now, dangerous and unsafe situations frequently result from the huge crowds at Fantasmic!, parades, and fireworks. At holiday times Disneyland closes the entrance gates and will not allow anyone in, to control over-crowding. I would imagine this happens at the Orlando parks, too. Ah well, if I can get rid of my massive morning headache, I will head on over to Disneyland and DCA, before the huge Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve mobs fill up the parks. A mug of steaming hot sugar-free chocolate is calling out to me .... Hippie HoHo! P.S. Has this monthly payment deal already been discussed here and I missed it? If so, I apologize for repeating anything already chatted up
