Oh for pete's sake! I went and did it again! We now have another little 4 legged friend in our home! Yesterday on my lunch hour I was wandering through a local store and they were doing a thing sponsering a pup from the local humane society. He was a 7 mo old wire hair terrier. Well, let's just say it was love at first site and I ended up bringing him home! The humane society was offering half off their normal $160 adoption fee, then Posh (the store he was in) was offering 1/2 of the remaining $80 fee if they could find him a home. So, I was sold! I went back to work, then zipped out for about 1/2 hour to go fill out the paperwork! Mom met me at work with a carrier for him. He stayed there till I got off at 6, then went trick or treating with us! He's the sweetest natured little guy you could ever dream of meeting! And the second you sit down, he's on your lap! Mickey, my daschund, made up with him pretty quickly! They play pretty well. The only prob I've had with him is wanting to mark his territory. He only did it twice (once last night and once early this morning) and I got onto him pretty firmly (that will NOT fly in my normally very clean, very good smelling home) and since he hasn't done a thing wrong! He gets neutered on Thursday, so that should take care of that all together. He LOVES to play ball and is excellent in the car! So, let's keep our fingers crossed that he continues his good behavior so that he can become a permanent part of our family! Here's some pictures of him I took last night and this morning! There's one where I swear he's telling Mickey, "I've got my eye on you!". It made me laugh! In another one he has his ball looking for someone to throw it. He's a silly looking little fella, but I already love him!

Yesterday Dexter only had the one "heisting" incident first thing in the morning! Otherwise he was a perfect little guy! So far he has showed no interest in chewing anything but his chewies. This morning he has been great and had no incidents whatsoever. And we've been up since 6:00 (gotta LOVE that time change!). He went in and jumped on Brandon to help wake him ut to get ready for church! Him and Mickey had one little scuffle last night over a chew bone, but Dexter (Jeff named him) quickly gave up and let Mickey have his way. That was good b/c Mickey wouldn't have given up! He's the spunky one! This morning we had a rousing game of ball and skunk (a very realistic version of a toy skunk) and now both pups are laying down for their morning nap. Oh and about his name. His original name was Cagney, which I didn't like at all. And he didn't seem to have any knowledge of it anyway. You could say it all day long and his ears wouldn't even perk up. To be honest, I don't think his previous owner gave him a tremendous amount of attention. ANYWAY, I knew I was going to change it. But what to? Well, while I was on the phone with Jeff on Halloween he informed me that he would be called Dexter. Jeff always wanted a schnauzer named Dexter, so I guess he's given up that dream! Anyway, he's answering to his name nicely now. I've been using it over and over and over!

So there you have it! You're daily Dexter update! I hope he stays on the good path he seems to be on b/c I am loving him more and more every day! He's SUCH a doll! The second someone sits down, he's up in their lap! How can you not LOVE that??
