For the first time ever- we're traveling to visit family. Going to NJ to visit my cousin and family. If you remember I've talked about Kenny, who died a few years back, we'll this is his sister. I haven't been back since the funeral- and think it's time. I want to visit kenny too. It's not going to be easy to be back in the house he grew up in and we have sooooo many memories of childhood fun, but I'm going to do it.

My aunt is having dinner- I'm excited about the change of scenery. I'll miss my family here but....

So what are your plans??

Well Snowy, We were going to go to the Twin Cities to Joe's Sister's house this yr but just this wk plans changed Very Sad My BIL decided to leave One BIL I thought would never do the things he has. Really my SIL asked him to leave till he got his life straightened out but told him she loved him and would always be there for him. Sigh Joe's family has been through a alot the past couple yrs mainly with BIL's But I regress

SO Anyways Even though Joe's Parents have started a remodel and the main area of there house is under construction the NEW plan is at my MIL house which is only 10 min away compared to the hour and 15 min away. I am sad for my SIL and her three kids but All I can do is let her know I am here if she needs me.

Nothing real Major other then that this year I will make my famous Pumpkin Cheesecake and the Pickle roll ups ( with ham and Cream Cheese) and taking Green Beans because I have Green Beans coming out of my ears from the garden.  Plan on watching the Macy's Parade with my kids too. And making a nice breakfast.

This year is my younger sisters turn to host Thanksgiving.  Each year we rotate between my older sister, younger sister, younger brother and myself.  The only down fall is that we won't have homemade stuffing Both my sisters make stove top stuffing while my SIL and I make homemade stuffing.  Other than that one little item everything will be the same.  Mom makes the pumpkin pies, I make the apple pies and so on and so on.

LOL I know how that goes Dawn! We always have Thanksgiving dinner here for almost that very reason. Well, for lots of reasons, but, just between you and me....it's because of the food! LOL

The girls and I will go to the parade in Detroit and Jim will get the bird in the oven for us! But, we'll prep and prepare as much as possible the day before. We make a good team in the kitchen. My sister NEVER has big dinners and hardly cooks ANYTHING! (She's a princess. ) My two brothers go to their in-laws. My mom's place is just too small. And, Jim's family is all over the place for this holiday too. So, it will be us and our kids, my parents and my sister and her family. A party of 14. We'll eat, and eat and eat! Then at some point we'll have the 2nd Annual Wii Bowling Tournament. Fun, fun, fun! Natalie and Jeff will have to leave early to go to his families party for dessert. But, at least from here their drive will be shorter.

Our dinner will be pretty traditional. Turkey, sausage stuffing, smashed potatoes with gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans almondine, cranberries, salad, rolls and PIE! I can't wait!

Well, this year will be a first for me, too!  My Justy won't be here!  I'm sad about that.  But he'll have fun!  He's going to NC with my parents to spent Thanksgiving with my brother and his family.  Meanwhile at home it'll be me, Jeff, Brandon, mil and fil, my nephews Andy and Brice, my neice Jessica, bil and his gf Josie, and hopefully our friend Mike.  So, it'll be a full house.  After lunch fil, bil, Andy, and Josie will prob head home.  Brice, Jessica, and Betty will stay and we'll play games and watch The Santa Clause until it gets dark.  Then we'll flip on our Christmas lights and do the traditional oohs and ahhhs before heading out to see the Isle of Lights!  It'll be fun for all!  Then Jeff and I will get up at dark thirty to do some black Friday shopping before I go to work!

Well, Bob and I have Thanksgiving at our house every other year as I have to work the others.  I really enjoy doing it and would love to try to have other holidays here, but I know none of the family members want to change their traditions.  Thanksgiving was the only holiday no one really claimed, so I was able to grab this one.

Each year, we try a new recipes on a traditional Thanksgiving menu.  I try to include at least 3 or more veggies and at least 2 fruit desserts.  I'm just coming up with the flavor profile for this year.  I'm thinking it may have a Southern flair this year.  But who knows?  I still have 2 weeks to finalize it.

I forgot about the "Lighting Ceremony!"

Yesterday, Jim and I took all the outdoor lights out of the attic. He has the Friday after Veterans Day off and that is traditionally the day we decorate outdoors. The weather is usually pretty balmy then. We don't "power up" until Thanksgiving night. (Except for the test run!  Gotta admire them for a little while!) Anywho, as soon as we had all the boxes down into the garage, the sky burst open and it's been raining since! The weather man tells us there will be some sort of precip (including the "s" word for the next 4 - 5 days.)

Now the garage is too full of boxes to pull the Minnie Van in. And, we just cleaned it out the previous weekend. LOL I'm hoping that now the boxes are down, I can snatch a little bit of decorating in as the weather allows.

I am so sad Joe announced he is refusing to do outdoor lights this year. Sigh! I wish i was able to Do it. Last time I tried I got on the roof and had to have the fire Dept come rescue me Because I was so scared I basically froze.

I am going to have to really make up for the lose outside and make the inside be a virtural wonderland.

Get this the Kids told me to Butter up Dad and get him to do the lights. I said and how would I do that ? Savannah says " give him those eyes that you do" Jonah says " Give him lots of kisses" and Isaac says " make him food"

So young and they have it all figured out.

Well, the Sunday before T-Day, we'll get together with my SIL/BILand family at their house and after eating we draw names for the gift exchange. If Janakins isn't working on T-Day,when I get off duty,we'll head to the farm(yes, it is over the river and through the woods!)for dinner at my folks. Otherwise it will be Sunday after T-Day at my folks, then back home to put up the tree and outside lights.

Out of the mouths of babes! LOL But, I think they may be on to something! How could he resist?

Anywho....you should NOT be going on the roof to put lights on your house anyway young lady! Very dangerous! Can you just hang lights on the gutters with those little clips and around the windows from the inside? That's what we do. We used to put them on the dormer roof line....until one of Jim's co-workers took a fall doing that at his own home and died! NOT worth the risk without proper eguipment. (Cherry pickers.) So, leave roofs to the pros!

Do you have shrubbery and lower stuff that the kids can help you reach? They'd get a kick out of that. But, I'll bet in the end Joe caves. Dads usually do that. Maybe he just doesn't want to go so all out this year. Anything is better than nothing. Good luck with that Amie!
